As the calendar turns to a fresh page, it’s impossible not to reflect on the year behind us. For me, 2024 was a whirlwind of change, growth, and discovery. After many rewarding years in the corporate trenches, I took a leap into the unknown by founding Stratified Consulting. It wasn’t just a career shift; it was a deliberate choice to align my professional life with my passion for empowering organizations to navigate complexity and thrive.

If you’ve also experienced a year of upheaval, pivoting, or chasing that elusive “what’s next,” you’ll understand that reflection and goal setting are critical tools in staying grounded and focused. With that in mind, I want to share a few actionable New Year’s resolutions for leaders who, like me, are committed to turning their vision into reality in the year ahead.

1. Goal: Get Comfortable With Change

  • Corporate Talk: Change isn’t just inevitable—it’s a powerful catalyst for growth. Leaders who embrace uncertainty and remain agile can better navigate today’s dynamic landscape.

  • Real Talk: Don’t fear shaking things up! Sometimes stepping away from what’s comfortable leads to breakthroughs.

  • Take Action: Schedule a monthly "status quo check-in" for your business or personal goals. Ask: What’s working? What needs to evolve? Commit to making at least one strategic adjustment each quarter.

2. Goal: Invest in Your Vision

  • Corporate Talk: Building a successful organization requires clear articulation of your vision and strategic allocation of resources to achieve it.

  • Real Talk: Bet on yourself and your big ideas, nothing grows without care and commitment.

  • Take Action: Write down your top three long-term objectives for 2025. Then, map out one specific action per month that moves you closer to each goal. Don’t just dream big; act bigger.

3. Goal: Empower Others Through Collaboration

  • Corporate Talk: Collaboration fosters innovation and generates collective intelligence, driving stronger outcomes across the organization.

  • Real Talk: Great ideas don’t happen in isolation—teamwork really does make the dream work.

  • Take Action: Dedicate time each week to connect with your team, clients, or peers. Host brainstorming sessions or feedback forums that encourage input from diverse perspectives.

4. Goal: Prioritize Continuous Learning

  • Corporate Talk: Staying ahead of the curve requires ongoing professional development and adaptation to new trends and frameworks.

  • Real Talk: Keep learning to keep growing—there’s always something new to discover.

  • Take Action: Enroll in a course, read a new book, or attend a conference in your field. Make professional development a non-negotiable part of your routine.

5. Goal: Celebrate Milestones, Big and Small

  • Corporate Talk: Acknowledging achievements helps maintain motivation and fosters a positive culture within your organization.

  • Real Talk: Don’t forget to pat yourself on the back—every win matters, no matter how small.

  • Take Action: Create a milestone calendar for the year ahead. Build in moments to celebrate progress with your team, your family, or even just yourself.

As I look forward to 2025, I’m excited by the opportunities that lie ahead—not just for Stratified Consulting, but for the leaders and organizations we’re privileged to work with. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that strategy isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about asking the right questions, staying adaptable, and keeping your vision front and center.

Here’s to a new year filled with bold moves, inspired thinking, and thriving partnerships. Let’s make it one for the books—together.
